Fane Crescendo 100 watt '70s -Type A-Speaker - Vintage Crescendos in good condition are very difficult to find today, expensive when you can find them, and can sound very different from one another due to age and use. This one has been tried and tested, fully working and sounds great!

Famously known to be the Rory Gallagher and Dave Gilmour speaker of choice...

"I have two new 100-watt Fender Twin Reverb heads running to two 4xl2 cabinets each-two WEM cabinets with Fane Crescendo speakers and two Marshall cabinets with Celestions." - David Gilmour, Guitar Player, Nov 1984

Fane Crescendo speakers were made by the legendary British loudspeaker company Fane throughout in the 1960s, '70s, and '80s. In the 1970s Fane made speakers for Selmer,Watkins (WEM), Simms-Watts, and Dave Reeves of Sound City and Hiwatt fame, which is likely where Pink Floyd was first introduced to them. Fane produced a massive number of speaker models with many different options, so there is not one "Fane" sound, and the Crescendos sounded very different to other Fanes. There were also several different Fane Crescendo models with various speaker frame designs and labels. The original Crescendos were 12" 100w, 15" 100w, and 18" 150w models, all available in both 8 ohm and 15-16ohm. Two common types of 12" Crescendos were made in the 1970s - type 'A' general purpose speakers, with aluminum dust caps, and type 'B' or 'B/L' for bass and organs, with plastic treated linen dust caps. With its four specially designed 10" speakers, 1" horn, and dual front ports for extended low end, the Ampeg 410 was born to rock hard and low. Suitable for most sizes of venues, the 4-Ohm enclosure handles twice the power of the 410HE and features heavy-duty recessed handles and detachable casters. The extended range of the 410HE makes it ideal for 5- or 6-string bass players seeking solid low frequency performance (all the way down to 40Hz), with shimmering top-end up to 18kHz.

The rear jackplate features two 1/4" jacks wired in parallel, allowing for easy daisy-chaining from one speaker to another. Either jack can be used as an input or a through connection. The HF Horn switch allows for full high frequency output (0 setting), -6dB reduction of the highs (-6 setting), and Horn shutoff (off setting).

This speaker was one of four, now only 3 left, I have a pair for sale (see my other listings) and this one without the plastic creamback cover - It’s a very nice sounding speaker – louder than the G12M and more ‘boomy’, but less compressed and more fluid. Strong in the upper mid range.

T1217 is easily the most common G12H model from the 70’s. It was the stock speaker with many UK brands in the 1970’s, such as Orange and Carlsbro, with Marshall being the notable exception.

Specifications:

Celestion G12H Creamback T1217 30WATT 16OHm 75HZ Date 1978
